Indexes to marriages at St Gregory's church, Great Crakehall
Crakehall (Great and Little) and the adjoining townships of Langthorne and East Brompton (part of the village of Patrick Brompton) were part of the Parish of Bedale, and births, marriages and burials were registered with Bedale until 1842. In 1840 they were formed into a separate District Parish or Chapelry. A new church, dedicated to St Gregory, was built on Great Crakehall village green, a new vicarage was erected on the edge of the village, and celebration of marriages began in 1842.
