Will of Richard Mayson of Great Crakehall, yeoman, 19 January, 1657. Proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, 20th March, 1658

First I give and commit my soule to Almighty God ny saviour and redeemer, and my bodie to be buried where it shall please my executrix hereafter named and appointed.
And now for the settling of mine estate which it hath pleased God to bestowe upon me I doe order, give and dispose the same in manner and forme following :
That is to say I give to my sonne Ralph, mine onlie sonne and heire all my lands and tenements, title and interest either in Great Crakall or elsewhere.
Likewise I give un to him my saide sonne and heire all my husbandrie geare either for plough or waine. Likewise one cupbord now in Mark Laytons.
Likewise I give unto my daughter (Grace) two ewes as a legacie : I having formerlie given unto her her childs part and porcon.
Likewise I give unto Jain Mayson mine nece one gimmer hogg as a legacie.
Besides, I give unto my sonne Ralph all my chambering bords and jyests either laid or unlaid.
And last of all I make my daughter Elizabeth my sole executrix of this my last will and testament.
