This is a transcript (©Ian Hancock, 2007) of the probate inventory of the property of Henry Lucas of Little Crakehall, who died in 1676. Henry Lucas was one of the most prosperous farmers in Little Crakehall. His family built the house and malting that became the Malt Shovel Inn.

The inventory itemises both the farm stock and the contents of the house, room by room, giving a good impression of the circumstances of a prosperous yeoman farmer at that time
